Four Ingredients that make me smile

Have you ever made your own spice blend? You probably have these four ingredients in your spice cabinet already, so combining them should be super easy. I love repurposing items and in general hate to throw things away that I think will come in handy someday. I always save my spice jars instead of throwing them in the recycling bin. These four ingredients make me smile. Mainly, cumin, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. I use these four ingredients in so many things, (Healthy Fish TacosJuicy Smoked Pulled Pork, The Best Seafood & Chicken Gumbo, etc.) that I finally just mixed up a batch and put it into a jar. Having this blend ready to go will make life easier in the future.

Why No Salt?

I don’t add salt to my spice blends because I want to control how much salt is added to each dish. Sometimes I may want to add more spice, but that doesn’t mean I want to add more salt. I used to buy a particular blend in the store for years, but sometimes my dishes would be too salty. Plus, some people avoid salt for heart health, so it’s  good idea to just add it separately.
